An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative rear hook bow brooch. It is missing the spring, pin and lower bow/ catchplate due to old breaks. The wings are semi-cylindrical in form, separated by an integrally cast rear facing hook. The bow is D-shaped in section, tapering to a pointed foot that is missing its tip due to old breaks. An incomplete and very worn and corroded copper-alloy Roman Colchester bow brooch. It is missing most of the spring, pin and catchplate due to old breaks, and has suffered from extensive post-depositional wear and corrosion. The brooch has flat rectangular wings, separated at the centre of the head by an integral spring and hook, both of which are incomplete due to old breaks. A complete lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. It is plano-convex in shape with a convex upper surface and a flat base. It is sub circular in shape with a central circular hole of internal diameter 9.2mm. The weight is 23.40mm in diameter and is 11.8mm thick. It weighs 34.68g. It has a light gray/white patina and is decorated with low bosses.  Objects such as these were used for a long period of time for a variety of functions with little change in form.

An incomplete copper alloy finger ring, probably of Roman date. The hoop has a break in its centre and is squashed flat. The ring has a rectangular bezel with an oval recess in the centre of its outer face, which is filled with whitish, chalky material. The band is narrow and D-shaped in cross-section, becoming slightly wider where it joins the setting. There is also a raised ridge decorating the outer face at the point where the band joins the bezel. The surface of the metal is much corroded and the breaks well worn. A complete Roman copper-alloy plate brooch dating to circa AD 200-350, missing only the pin. It is oval in plan. In the centre is a recessed oval cell surrounded by a projecting rectangular-sectioned oval border. The cell would have been inlaid with a conical glass or stone setting which is now missing. Between the outer border and the outer edge are traces of gilding. Projecting from the reverse is a D-shaped pin lug. At the lower edge is a flat catchplate, much of which has now broken away. This is an incomplete scabbard chape of Early-Medieval date, possibly an end protector for a knife scabbard. It finds parallels in a number of examples recorded through the PAS (e.g. LIN-E5C477, SF-0E88A2, HAMP-1DA880 or WAW-03F886) and is of probable c.11th century AD date. It depicts a possibly a bear-like creature or man with a straight bar behind and above the figure, the lower part is missing due to old breaks. Complete copper-alloy Roman strap end. With a elongated oval body a terminal knop and horizontal attachment end with a central integral loop set at right angles to the plane of the strap end. The front face is decorated with annulets arranged in lines hoirzontally and vertically. Most similar in attachment device to a Tortworth strap end (Henry 2022, 84-85), but also reminiscent in shape to Amphora shaped strap ends. A copper alloy Roman hair-pin. It fits within Cool's Group 10 of knob headed pins. The heard is conical.  The shank is circular in section,  and thickened in its centre. The tip of the pin bent. It measures 60.2mm in length. The head is 6.2mm in diameter, and the pin weighs 4.45g. Cool, 1990, p.160, fig.7, no.1. This group would have been in use by c.AD 125 onwards.

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy composite strap end, dating to c.AD 1300 - 1400. The crescentic forked spacer survives. The crescentic bars are complete and rectangular in section, tapering towards the terminals. At the centre of the crescent is a projecting acorn shaped knop with a rectangular collar.  Length:33.1 mm Width: 24.6 mm Weight: 3.81 g Egan and Pritchard (1991) illustrates similar forked spacers and strap ends on page 141 from London.

A complete copper alloy medieval or post-medieval casket key. The shank is oval in cross-section. The bit is simple in form with a small rectangular notch removed from the centre of each longer side. The bow is circular and flattened with a circular hole through the centre.  Margeson (1993, 160-2, figs.118-120) illustrates a number of small, simple casket keys from Norwich, found in contexts dating from the 12th to 17th century. Such a simple key, which is lacking diagnostic details cannot be dated more closely. Length: 35.3mm, width: 14.6mm, thickness: 2.6mm, weight: 4.28g

Copper-alloy finger-ring, with circular cross-section which tapers from 3.9 mm in diameter in the centre to sharply pointed overlapping ends. Both ends are now bent out of shape; there is no further decoration. The ring 23.2 mm in external diameter. This shape is characteristic of Viking or Late Anglo-Saxon finger-rings.
