Post medieval lead cloth seal The cloth seal is of two-disc type with circular discs (of 22mm diameter, 5.4mm thick and weighing 7.3g). One disc has no surviving device or legend. The other has a central device of a crowned portcullis. A small part of the encircling legend survives: ] W .TRE.[ Seals with a crowned portcullis dates from the reign of Elizabeth I and are often county seals and are sometimes counterfeited to avoid taxes.
