Probably Medieval flat-sectioned sheet plate tapering and bent to form a sharp hook, possibly part of a composite hooked strap-end. Single rivet hole filled with corrosion near straight-cut upper end of plate. Traces of solder on both faces to a line c. 9-10mm from upper edge. Length 29mm. Width 7.1mm. Weight 3.00 g. Small tinned copper-alloy chape from a dagger sheath or sword scabbard, made from sheet rolled into a cone, the seam is open on the reverse, but would have overlapped and probably have been soldered. The narrower end has been cut into four triangular points or notches which have been bent in to close the end. Medieval to post-medieval kidney-shaped copper alloy sheet buckle frame. The sides are hammered and flat, the face (width 7mm, 0.7mm thick) angled outwards with oblique lines of engraved rocker-arm, forming a V in the centre, and their tapered ends are curled over to hold the ends of a missing (probably iron) bar. Now very distorted- length 53mm. Weighs 2.54mm. See examples in a hoard from Blossom's Inn, Cheapside, London (Margeson 1993, 25, plate IX). 15th-16th century.
