Incomplete Medieval copper alloy probable folding strap clasp, with a folded sheet plate secured by a single rivet at the attachment-end, narrowed bar and stumps of sides of frame only. The long sides of the plate are bordered with an incised rocker-arm lines and frame an engraved saltire between four short horizontal lines. Length of plate 35mm. Width of plate 14.5-15mm. Incomplete openwork Roman copper alloy strap fitting from harness (Nicolay Type B13). Rectangular with recessed D-sectioned ends and three broad transverse grooves and a vertical median line of three oval perforations dividing the mount into twin vertical D-sectioned columns, connected by three of the four resultant transverse ribs. Early Saxon copper alloy strap distributor. The object comprises a circular sectioned oval ring (13.5-14mm) with two looped attachments (or strap-ends). The ring has two opposed internal concavities caused by wear on the broader axis. Each attachment (also called a strap loop) consists of slightly trapezoidal front and back plates joined by an integral round-sectioned loop and pierced by two copper alloy rivets.
