Tall lead weight, now a little damaged. The base is rectangular, measuring perhaps 12 x 17 mm, and has a damaged downwards projection forming a foot at each corner. In between, the base is slightly hollowed and has a dot at the centre. There are two large flat rectangular sides and two narrower triangular sides, rising to a ridge at the top; there is no suspension loop. It weighs 34.30g (1.21 oz), which is obviously not a round figure in the medieval and post-medieval avoirdupois system, so its date and function should remain tentative.

Octagonally facetted conical lead weight, 13.5 mm in diameter at the base and 19 mm tall. Very carefully made, with a small hole running up from a depression in the base to emerge at the top. It weighs 14.36g (0.50 oz), and must have lost some weight through oxidation, so that if it was made as a half-ounce avoirdupois trade weight it would originally have been slightly over-weight (to the disadvantage of the trader). Probably medieval.

Conical lead weight. The diameter at the base is 28 mm, and there is a hole in the centre which runs 23 mm up into the interior of the weight. The total height of the weight is 46 mm. At the top it flattens as if it may have originally been pierced to provide a suspension loop; there is some dark orange-stained soil in a crevice on the very top which may possibly be from iron corrosion. It weighs 130.4g (4.6 oz) and is very hard to date.

Circular lead object, possibly a weight. It is 6 mm thick, with slightly tapering sides; the upper face is 21 mm in diameter and the lower 22-23 mm in diameter. The upper face is decorated with a raised border around two concentric grooves. As it weighs 23.86g, which at 0.84 oz is not a round avoirdupois figure, it is perhaps more likely to be something like a gaming piece rather than a weight. The alternative is that it is a pre-avoirdupois weight.

Square lead plaque, perhaps a weight. It measures 17 x 16.5 mm and is 5 mm thick. One face is decorated with a lattice of unevenly spaced lines. It weighs 13.19g (0.46 oz) so could perhaps have been intended as a half-ounce weight; if so, the decoration could be a portcullis stamp.

Shield-shaped lead weight, with a relief fleur-de-lis on one face. The usual lowered border around the motif is absent, and the edges are steeply bevelled. It weighs 216g (7.6 oz) and was probably intended as a half-pound weight.

Two roughly circular discs of lead. One is about 36 mm in diameter and 5 mm thick; it weighs 56.52g (1.99 oz) and may well be a 2 oz weight. The other is about 31 mm in diameter and about 7 mm thick, with a crudely raised border on each face. It weighs 44.16g (1.55 oz) and is less likely to be a weight.

Two thick circular copper-alloy discs, well made with right-angled corners and smooth surfaces. One is 19 mm in diameter and 6 mm thick; it weighs 14.2g (0.5 oz). The other is 15.5 mm in diameter and 5.5 mm thick; it weighs 8.76g (0.31 oz). There is no decoration and no official stamps on either of the discs and so the identification as weights must be tentative; the weight of the larger one at exactly 0.5 oz may be coincidental.

Three conical lead weights, 23.5 mm, 18.5 mm and 15 mm tall. The largest has a neat circular base of diameter 16 mm, with an off-centre 3 mm square hole running 21 mm into the interior of the weight; it weighs 28.17g (0.99 oz). The next tallest has more rounded edges and a less regular shape. The base is sub-rectangular with rounded corners, 11 x 12 mm, and there are ?iron-stained dimples in both the base and the apex. It weighs 10.81g. The lowest weight has a very irregularly shaped flat base, perhaps roughly 17 x 20 mm; the incurves of the base tend to run up the weight as broad …

Irregular conical lead weight. The base is an irregular square or oval measuring 30 x 31 mm. The weight is 47 mm tall, and the sides are concave at the base, straight in the centre and convex at the top forming a tall bell shape. In the centre of the base is an indentation, and at the top are the remains of two iron wires. Lead steelyard weights suspended from iron or copper-alloy wires are known from the Roman period, but they tend to be biconical. The shape of this weight could mean that it was used both for hanging from a steelyard, and as a standing weight; there is little dat…

Conical lead weight. The base is circular, 16 mm in diameter, and the weight is 39 mm tall. The sides are straight and the weight is quite neatly made. Off-centre in the base is a circular hole 6-7 mm in diameter, which runs up the middle of the weight to a depth of 23 mm. There is no evidence of any loop or perforation at the top. As a standing weight, this may be medieval.

Substantial lead weight, an irregular circle or pentagon in shape (diameter c. 79-82 mm) and plano-convex in cross-section (c. 20 mm thick). The flat surface is clearly the upper, with the remains of two rectangular-section iron bars projecting. The cross-section of each one measures about 14 x 4 mm, and they are not quite parallel, being 11 to 14 mm apart. They may be the remains of a large iron suspension loop. There is a third similar-sized hole, plus two small circular holes 2 mm in diameter and 6 mm apart and a more irregular hole about 9 x 6 mm. On this face is also a circul…

Shield-shaped lead weight, thick and flat with a straight top, tapering sides and a rounded point. It is not terribly well made and the shape is really sub-triangular rather than shield-shaped. The upper face has a lowered border around a central shield, with a deep groove around the shield. On the shield is a relief design which is probably basically a rampant lion (one of the usual motifs for this kind of weight) but which has two diagonal lines cutting across it. The upper line is a groove, which is interrupted by part of the relief ?lion so cannot be later damage. The lower li…

Large conical lead weight, with depression in the base. The apex is now incomplete, and may originally have had an integral loop. The base is sub-rectangular, with rounded corners, and measures 29 x 30 mm. The weight is 44 mm tall and weighs 179.92g (6.35 oz). It may be medieval.

Conical lead weight, a bit battered-looking. The base is oval, 14 x 16 mm, and the weight is 34 mm tall. There is a perforation running from top to bottom, which is oval at the bottom (5 x 7.5 mm) and a squashed circle 3 mm in diameter at the top. It weighs 31g exactly (1.09 oz).

Roughly conical lead weight, one side vertical and the other sides sloping. The base is circular, 17 mm in diameter, and the weight is 32.5 mm tall. There is a perforation running into the weight from both top to bottom, but they may not meet. At the bottom the perforation is an irregular shape, 7 mm across, and at the top it is very small, perhaps 1 mm across. It looks as though it may have been made by rolling up a thick piece of sheet, with the seam up the flat side. It weighs 32.15g (1.13 oz).

Tall lead weight, rounded and unevenly tapering in cross-section. The base is oval, 21 x 17 mm, and the weight is 35 mm tall. It tapers just above the base and then close to the top. Small lead weight, a curious bi-pyramidal shape. Lozengiform in cross-section, there is a thickened ridge around the middle bringing the maximum cross-section dimension to 16 x 14 mm. A distinct seam runs up each of the more acute angles. A perforation runs between the apexes, which although damaged was probably originally c. 3 mm in diameter. The distance between the apexes is 18 mm. It weighs 12.68g (0.45 oz).
