Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Lincolnshire

Fragment of a lead cast horn book, only one corner with lettering on one side, decoration on other.
Full-size hornbooks (of wood and horn or mica) were used as teaching aids, but it seems likely that small lead versions were toys; most seem to be 17th-century in date (Lewis 2012, 98-101).
