Identified by Martin Crowther as a strap end, with zoomorphic design of two beasts (mythical creatures), with bodies facing, but their heads turned away from one another; each beast with its tail in its mouth. This strap fitting is broadly rectangular in shape, but arches with two semi-circles side by side at one of its shortest ends; one semi-circle above the head of each of the two beasts. The remains of three rivets can be found on the reverse side of the plate which suggests that the object may have had an identical designed plate on its other side (now lost).
