Virtually complete grey wear jug of rounded form with cylindrical neck, only from of rim missing. Broad strap handle with deep knife slashes. The underside of the base bears 16 equidistant finger impressions (there are none on the outside). The neck is rilled (horizontally grooved) and there are three or four crude horizontal grooves on the body. The fabric is hard and sandy with dark grey surfaces, brownish margins and a grey corse, there are sparse flecks of shell or chalk up to 3mm across.

Eight sherds of pottery: incudes five sherds in shell-tempered sandy ware (three cooking pot rims, one ?jug sherd with bands of fine horizontal combing, one cooking pot base). These are in North or West Kent Sand and Shell-tempered ware (EM36) these forms dating to c.1175-1225/50. The other three sherds comprise two cooking pot rims and a jug rim/handle in North or West Kent Sandy Ware (M38A) and these probably date to c.1200-1250/75 but the cooking pot rims could date from as early as c.1175.
