Probably 1760-1826. Copper alloy, cast, broken fragment of a once very large size rumbler bell. Fragment Length 71mm, Width 49mm, Thickness 4.4mm, Weight 87.0g. Estimated diameter size number '30', 140mm ie 5.5 inches. Lower section fragment with sunburst decoration and initial 'R' probably from 'R.W.' Robert Wells foundry, Albourne, Wiltshire. Probable Mid 3rd Century. Pottery flagon sherd. Length 45.8mm, Width 35.1mm, Thickness 17.1mm, Weight 22.3g. This face is moulded and constituted part of the mouth of a flagon (also called a face-neck flagon). Very abraded but the residue of a colour-coat in the vicinity of the eyes and other depressions. Probably from Nene Valley potteries or perhaps from Hadham Kilns. Ref. Clothes fastener, minus the rectangular loop used to accept a hook from opposing hooked fastener, there are two remaining small, circular attachment loops but minus the third similar terminal loop. Moulded decoration consisting of five facetted gem like rectangles along the length and three across the width. Rusty stain, probably indicating once having an iron tongue. Complete with a stud chape. The buckle is slightly curved which indicates a shoe buckle or possibly distorted by the plough.
