A complete, Medieval, sheet construction, copper alloy, double sheet, 2-piece, strap-end with simple decoration. Two notches in the attachment edge one either end coming to a point on each corner and also a simple rounded knop. There are two intact small separated, central rivets - one at each end with remnants of the woven cloth strap between the sheets. A Post Medieval, cast, copper alloy, complete, double oval loop buckle frame with moulded all over surface decoration. There is an oval shaped, plain, lobed knop at the outer edges and a slightly smaller one at each end of the strap bar. Once silvered or tinned white metal surface, with a recess on the back but minus the tongue. This is likely to date to `1550-1650. Ref. Buckles 1250-1800, Ross Whitehead, Anglia Publishing 1996, page 66 No. 410 & 411. The buckle is 55.17mm long, 34.03mm wide, 3.14mm thick and weighs 11.5g.
