Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A late Early Medieval/early Medieval mount. The mount was recorded in an unclean state as shown in the image. The mount appears to be in the form of a facing animal head, perhaps a bear. There are two large ears at the top; the bear has two large eyes and snout. Below is a slender 'body' and two arms that appear to be held up as if he is holding the side of his head with his hands. There is a large knop in the centre of the body near the base, perhaps representing a belly-button. The mount is broken below this across what appears to be two open circles. The mount has a reddish patina.
