A complete but abraded Late Saxon copper-alloy trapezoidal openwork stirrup-strap mount probably of Williams' (1997, 85-9) Class B, Type 1, group 1. There are two fixing holes in upper angles, both with corroded iron rivets. At the base are two rivet-holes each containing an iron rivet, and there are remains of the iron fitting on the reverse. Little detail survives on the upper two protruding animal heads, the ears and eyes and nose can be seen on the lower protruding head. A complete drawn silver bodkin-type dress-pin of post-medieval date, c.1600-1700.
Description: The bodkin is formed of a drawn piece of silver with a slot and perforation (eye) at one end, and tapering to a point at the other end. The shaft has a flattened quadrangular cross-section with bevelled edges, and is undecorated. The pin is crushed across the slot, which bends it out of shape. The pin's shaft has been bent in a number of other places and some deep gouges have also occured, likely due to post-depositional damage, however it remains complete.
