Fragment of copper alloy buckle plate. The complete plate would be bent back on itself around the buckle frame but the folded half is missing at the point of return. The plate narrows over its length in a two stage curve stepping down in width at the approximate half-way point. The end of the plate is curved half-round. There is a central circular hole close to the end of the plate with two evenly spaced tranverse circular holes close to the buckle frame end. Fragment of large copper alloy double oval loop acorn knop buckle. The second loop is missing from old breaks adjacent to the strap bar but the D-section pin survives complete. The buckle frame varies from a D-shaped section to that of a shallow C. There are large acorn knops at either end of the strap bar where it meets the frame and in the middle of the surviving loop. Circa 1550-1650 AD.
