A post medieval crudely cast lead alloy object, probably intended for use as a loom weight or spindle whorl, dating to c. AD 1450 - 1600. The object broadly resembles Walton Rodgers form A1 or A2, being sub-circular in plan with one flat face and tapering curved sides. The central hole is circular with an internal diameter of 6.5 mm, which narrows to 5 mm. Both faces bear evidence of decoration with lines and pellets but are highly abraded, with some chipping along one edge. An early medieval lead alloy cast spindle whorl of cylindrical Walton Rogers form B, dating to c. AD 43 - 900. With a central moulded aperture of 8.2 mm in diameter. Bottom surface is slightly concave, upper surface rounded. Some asymmetry in thickness. The spindle hole size is compatible with a Roman or Anglo-Saxon date. Surfaces are undecorated and have a dusty white patina. Diameter 28 mm, thickness 13 mm and weight 2.09 g.

An assemblage of four lead spindle whorls or loom weights of medieval to post medieval date, Walton Rogers Form B (c. AD 1100 - 1600). The spindle whorls are cylindrical, circular in plan, with a well-formed circular (9 mm diameter) perforation, in one case slightly off-centre. The whorls are undecorated. The spindle whorl is rounded bi-conical in shape with rounded edges and surfaces, and a circular perforation through the centre. There is very worn indistinct moulded linear decoration on the surfaces. The diameter of the perforation is 10.4 mm. The entire object is worn. The surface patina is light cream with patchy areas of light grey. Diameter 26.97 mm, width 9.08 mm and weight 30.09 g.
