Cast lead spindle whorl probably dating to the Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and slightly biconical. The object has a large central circular perforation. One surface is decorated with a series of 11 moulded pellets around the circumference and 9 moulded pellets surrounding the perforation. The pellets are unevenly spaced and several of the internal pellets touch those on the outer edge. The opposite side is decorated with 12 raised pellets. Cast lead spindle whorl probably dating to the Medieval or Post-Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It has a central circular perforation. Both the upper and lower surfaces are undecorated. The object has a light white patina and is in good condition. It is very regular. Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the Medieval period c.1066-1500.

A lead spindle whorl of possible Medieval date. It is flat, discoidal in form with a central circular aperture and impressed rocker decoration on both faces. A complete cast lead spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date. The spindle whorl is circular with a central perforation. There is a deep circular depression to one side of the perforation. Both sides of the spindle whorl are flat and pitted. The metal is a light brownish-white colour and is slightly worn. The object weighs 40.1g.

A complete cast lead spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date. The spindle whorl is conical in shape with a slightly off central perforation running the length of the object. The perforation is filled with material most probably as a result of its deposition. The metal is a light brownish-white colour and is very worn and pitted. The object is weighs 12.9g.

A cast lead spindle whorl or possibly weight. It has a domed top and flat base with a tapering circular hole running through the centre. It is 28.0mm in diameter, 10.5mm tall with a hole 9.8mm in diameter at the base and 6.9mm at the top and weighs 37.83 grams. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval - Post Medieval.

A cast lead spindle whorl probably dating from the medieval period, about 1100-1500 AD. The whorl is plano-convex. One side is decorated with triangles made up of three small dots; the other with a series of small dots separated by short, straight lines. There is a small hole in the wall of the central perforation where the whorl would have been fixed to the spindle. The whorl is 28.7mm in diameter and 12.4mm thick. It weighs 46.08gm.

A cast complete lead alloy spindle whorl of Post-Medieval date. The metal is an alloy, possibly containing tin. The spindle whorl is circular in plan with a central, circular perforation. It is bioconical with cast decoration on both sides. The surface is very corroded so that the decoration is barely visible. On one side a cross, heart and ring and dot motif can be made out. On the reverse a heart and shield shape are present. Examples on spindle whorls can be found in Geoff Egan's: Meols: The Archaeology of the North Wirral Coast, pg 243-244 and Medieval Household, pg. 255-270.
