A complete lead-alloy spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1800. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central perforation running through it. One side is decorated raised lines diagonally radiating from the perforation to the outer edge forming triangular cells along the interior and exterior edges. Lead spindle whorl. Cast plano-convex whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.5mm with a prominent flattened circumferential rim , patinated and abraded. While the spindle hole size and indeed the surface condition may point to an Anglo-Scandinavian or later date, the form might point to this being a homemade copy using one half of a biconical whorl to form a mould. Lead possible spindle whorl. Cast discoid cylindrical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 11.8mm, cf. Walton Rogers form B. One side bears a possibly decorative scheme of indistinct shapes to either side of a gutter round the central hole. This might alternatively be the fortuitous result of shrinkage from casting in an open mould. A probably Early Medieval lead spindle whorl dating from AD 500 - 850. It is of Walton Rogers form A1. It is sub-circular and D shaped in cross-section. The domed face is rough. Measurements are; diameter 18.0mm, thickness 4.9mm and weight 21.33g. The central hole is 6.1mm diameter. Form A1 whorls are dated by Walton Rogers to AD 500 - 1000. Those with a central perforation of 6-9mm are more likely to be early to mid Saxon, and those with a larger perforation are more likely to be late Saxon onwards.

An incomplete Medieval to Post Medieval lead spindle whorl dating from AD 1200 - 1550. It is of Walton Rogers form C2. The whorl is biconical, but only half survives. It is broken across the central hole which has a diameter of about 9.4mm. Both faces are decorated with a pattern of raised radiating ribs.  Measurements are; length 27.5mm, width 13.3mm, thickness 8.8mm and weight 32.82g.

A Medieval to Post Medieval lead spindle whorl dating from about AD 1200 - 1550. It is of Walton Rogers form C2. It is biconical with a deisgn in relief on each face. One face has a zigzag line forming a star of eight points round the central hole. The other face has at least four worn curvilinear symbols equally spaced round the whorl. Measurements are; diameter 22.7mm, thickness 6.4mm and weight 40.10g. The central hole is 7.1mm diameter. Walton Rogers dates form C2 whorls from 1100 onwards. Standley (2016) suggests that decorated lead whorls were used from AD 1200 - 1550.

A spindle whorl made from a piece of Roman Samian ware pottery. It is slightly concave. There is no decoration, and the edges are chipped all of the way round the outside on the underside, and in a few discreet areas on the surface.
