Early Medieval? stone spindle whorl fragment, 27mm in diameter long and 21mm wide and weighs 9.52 grams..
The object is circular in form (incomplete) and sub circular in cross section. It has a pale yellow/grey patina and is probably made from sand or lime stone. What remains of the central hole is 10mm wide. Its form is an elongated version of Walton Rogers form B, though it is slightly narrower on one edge than the other so could fit form A2. It is most similar to eg.2545, fig.9.3 p.284 in Evans D.H. and Loveluck, C. 'life and economy at Early Medieval Flixborough'
