A complete lead Spindle Whorl of Medieval date (AD 1100-1500). The object is biconical with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.77mm. Both sides bear a moulded decoration. On both sides this takes the form of repeating, radiating lines with double chevron and pellets distributed between each line. A complete lead Spindle Whorl of Medieval date (AD 1100-1500). The object is biconical with a centra distorted sub-ovate aperture of diameter 10.7mm. Both sides bear a moulded decoration. One side has repeating radiating lines around the aperture, with repeating shallow Y shape between and three pellets within the inner cells. Both sides bear a moulded decoration. Both sides have repeating radiating lines around the aperture, with repeating shallow transverse lines between and a four-pointed star over. It has a uniform light grey/white patination. The straight sided central hole is 10.5mm in diameter, and the whorl has a diameter of 24.7mm and is 12.0mm thick. It weighs 28.6g. It conforms to Walton-Rogers form C, and therefore probably dates to c.1000 - 1500AD.

In the centre is a straight sided circular hole which is 7mm in diameter. The spindle whorl is undecorated and has a uniform white patina. It is circular in plan, and cast in the form of a shallow dome with one face flat, it has a straight sided central circular aperture which is 8.0mm in diameter. The whorl is undecorated, although it has some concentric marks on the flat face probably caused by shrinkage during casting, and thickly covered in white patination. The mean diameter is 34.0mm, thickness is 8.1mm, and it weighs 43.6g. The whorl conforms to Walton-Rogers form A, and therefore probably dates to c. AD800 - 1000.

A late Early Medieval to early Medieval Lead spindle whorl, dating to AD 900 - 1100. The spindle whorl is circular in plan with a circular perforated hole in the centre. One face has a midpoint groove around the circumference, possibly caused by shrinkage during casting, and there is an old dent at one side. The item is completely covered in creamy-white patination. Diameter: 22.8 mm (Central aperture 9.5mm wide) Thickness: 9.3 mm Weight: 23.3g The whorl conforms to Walton-Rogers form B, and therefore probably dates to c.900 - 1100AD.

A lead possibly Spindle whorl of possible Iron Age date, about 800 BC - AD 50. If it is a spindle whorl, it is of Walton Rogers Form C1 which has no flat faces and curved sides. This example is sub-spherical. Alberti notes that globular (in which she includes spherical) whorls are uncommon. The central hole has a diameter of 8mm. This is consistent with Walton Roger's suggests range of 4-8mm for Iron Age and Roman whorls, and she also notes that spherical whorls cease to be used in the Roman period.
