An incomplete lead alloy spindle whorl, possibly dating to the Medieval period circa AD 1200-1500. The whorl is biconical in shape with steep sides, flat edges and a central circular perforation. The obverse is decorated with five visible transverse lines radiating from the centre with one pellet in between each, six pellets total. There is an area on the obverse which has been worn away where the decoration is not visible. Part of a lead alloy spindle whorl with an unusual design. It is a shallow biconical whorl, with a moulded border around the circumference and inner diameter. On one side is a knot design formed of intertwined lines. On the other side is a design made up of various symbols, including groups of three dots, radiating lines and what may be two intertwined letter F's, and, unusually, a heart motif.
