A complete probable Early Medieval lead-alloy spindle whorl dating to circa AD 500-850. Cast in one piece it is comprised of a flat base with steep, conical walls and a central perforatio./ with a diameter of 10mm Though difficult to date without secure stratigraphic information, spindle whorls of this form are consistent with Walton Rogers form A1-2, dating to the early to middle Saxon period (2007).  Class: Walton Rogers 2007 A1-2

A complete medieval cast lead alloy spindle whorl, dating to c. AD 1200 - 1500. It is flat on one side and raises in a low cone on the other, the central aperture is 10.1 mm in diameter. The decoration is worn but consisted of a series of short transverse lines.  Diameter 32.5 mm, thickness 8.6 mm and weight 31.14 g.

A complete lead spindle whorl of probable medieval date (c. AD 1100 - 1450). The spindle whorl is discoid in shape and sub-circular in plan. It fits into the Walton Rogers classification form B. The central hole is circular with an internal diameter of 8.4 mm. Both faces are flat and undecorated. The whorl has an even white surface patination. Diameter 22.8 mm, thickness 8.0 mm and weight 22.48 g.

A complete, lead-alloy spindle whorl or weight dating to circa AD 43-1600. It is circular in plan and rectangular in section. In the centre is a circular perforation 7.8mm in diameter. One edge is signifcantly damaged. The top edges are flat and straight.  Spindle whorls can be hard to date accurately as they remained in use for a long period of time. However, however lead alloy spindle whorls of this type are normally attributed to the Medieval period (c. AD 1100 to AD1450).
