A cast lead alloy spindle whorl of unknown date, probably Early Medieval to Post Medieval, about AD 400 - 1600. It is Coppergate type B1 (Walton Rogers, 2007, page 25). It is discoidal with a central hole measuring 9.19mm in diameter. It is 22.64mm in diameter and 6.87mm thick on one side and 5.0mm on the opposite side. It weighs 19.3gms. A lead cast plano-convex spindle whorl of uncertain date. It has a shallow domed face with a flat underneath. The shape of the spindle whorl corresponds with Coppergate type A1 (Walton Rogers, 2007) which were used from the 6th century. However, it may also be medieval. The lead has a pale grey patina. The circular hole is 7.51mm with straight sides and is slightly offset to one side.
