A complete cast lead alloy spindle whorl dating from the Roman period through to the Post Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and biconical. There is a central perforation which is more worn on the front than on the back. The back is quite worn although it is possible to see some outward radiating lines. The front of the spindle whorl is in better condition and it is possible to see a raised border around the outer edge of the object with raised outward radiating lines creating a chevron effect. A similar object can be seen on the PAS database: NCL-536B77 and DUR-11B1F5.

A complete lead alloy spindle whorl, possibly of medieval date. The object is circular in plan with a circular central perforation. One side is clearly decorated with a series of dots which alternative to create a chevron design. The other side of the spindle whorl is much more worn which means any decoration is no longer visible. Spindle whorls of this type are used for a long period, from the Roman period through to the Post Medieval and so it is very difficult to assign a more specific date.

A complete lead alloy spindle whorl, possibly of medieval date. The object is circular in plan with a central, circular perforation. Both faces are flat although there is a slight bend in the object. There is decoration on both sides which consists of small isosceles triangles spaced around the perforation. These are a light brown colour which contrasts with the white patina on the rest of the object. Spindle whorls similar to this example were in use from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period and therefore it is difficult to assign a narrow date range of use.
