A complete lead-alloy spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date, c.AD 1100 - 1700. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central circular perforation running through it. Both faces have decoration, one is decorated with a series of raised lines and pellets which alternate. The object is of plano-convex section with a central perforation of 10.1mm diameter. The convex face is decorated with a raised pattern of V shapes and lines. The flat face is pitted, possibly decorated with pellets. The size of the central perforation suggests an Early Medieval late Saxon or later date. The raised linear decoration suggests a Medieval date.
