A complete cast lead alloy biconical spindle whorl of post-medieval date, c. AD 1500-1800. Both surfaces are decorated with moulded radial lines separating the outer surfaces into six fields, each containing three pellets, as well as one motif of a chevron pattern of three converging lines pointing towards the whorl's central perforation. This perforation is moulded rather than drilled, is c. 10 mm in diameter, and is slightly distorted rather than perfectly cylindrical, probably due to post-depositional damage. The outer whorl has a narrow …

A cast lead alloy spindle whorl dating from the Medieval or early Post-Medieval period, about AD 1200 - 1600. It is bi-convex, with a prominent median ridge and a circular central perforation of 10.5mm in diameter. Both faces are decorated with a moulded pattern in relief consisting of raised lines forming a star and pellets in the angles. There is some recent damage to the whorl. It is 30.8mm diameter, 12.2mm thick and 34.4g.

Complete cast lead alloy spindle whorl of probable late Medieval to early Post Medieval date. The whorl is circular in plan and domed in section with a central circular perforation. Both faces of the whorl are plain and undecorated. The central perforation has an internal diameter of 8mm, broadening to 8.4mm. Spindle whorls are difficult to date with accuracy. Some are understood to be of Roman date but the majority are probably of late Medieval to early Post Medieval date. This whorl has therefore been dated as probably c. 1400-1800.

Complete lead alloy spindle whorl. the whorl is biconcial in shape and has raised linear decoration, possibly intended to be lettering, on both the top and bottom. There is a central circular perforation (7.19mm at top to 9.1mm at base diameter) running through the cetnre of the whorl for the spindle. The whorl has a think layer of cream-beige patination.
Lead Spindle whorls are often difficult to date but the raised linear decoration means that this example is more likely to be Late Medieval to Post Medieval in date, c.1400-1700.
