A lead alloy spindle whorl. The form is biconical. On both sides the pattern is of radial lines with dots in groups of three or four between. The central hole is blocked, with soil or possibly the remains of the spindle. It is still covered with soil and the object patina cannot therefore be determined. It is of Walton-Rogers form C and may date to AD 1100-1600, although the smaller diameter central hole would suggest an earlier date

On both sides the pattern is of a line parallel to the circumference, and radial lines crossing this, in between which are raised dots in varying numbers. The very distinctive form is of Walton Rogers C, and dates to AD 1100-1500

On the flat side there is a line parallel to the circumference as decoration, no pattern is apparent on the other side. It has a ight brown patin. The form suggests it is of Walton Rogers A1, as YORYM-E97080, and dates therefore to AD 850-1000

A lead alloy spindle whorl. It is . Very flat on one side and a formed of a shallow cone section on the other. It has a border around the central hole on both sides and any pattern is too worn to discern. One side has a line parallel to the circumference as decoration. It has an even light brown patina. The form is of Walton Rogers A1 and therefore dates to AD 850-1100.

A lead alloy spindle whorl. In section it comprises one shallow, truncated cone forming the top, with a rounded frame and a circular pedestal underneath. The top is decorated with raised four circular shapes, proud of the surface. A complete early-Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl (Walton-Rogers type A1), probably dating c. AD 800-1050.
The spindle whorl is circular in plan, with a D shaped cross section and crudely formed. The central hole is circular in shape and slightly off centre. The internal diameter of the hole measures 10.49mm on the upper face, narrowing to 8.33mm on the lower domed face. The upper face is uneven and slightly concave. No decoration is present.
