1 sherd of Black Burnished ware. Poole/Wareham industry BB1 fabric. Reduced dark grey to black fabric (occasionally buff or orange oxidised) with abundant, rounded, translucent, quartz sand (up to 2 mm). The sherd is an undiagnostic body sherd with a drilled hole partially visible at one of the breaks. The sherd is abraded. Handmade vessel. Date: Roman - 1st to 4th century AD Weight: 2g Identified with guidance from Rachael Seagar-Smith

Ceramic spindle whorl diameter 31mm, height 17mm, weight 14.23g. The artefact is conical shaped with slightly convex sides, there are four concentric lines on the top surface and two on the underside. 10mm in diameter in the centre, light grey fabric. The ceramic used for the spindle whorl is similar to the fabric of grey were vessels from the Roman Period, therefore a roman date is ascribed.

Roman British greyware fabric spindle whorl, probably fashioned from a broken pot base. It is min.28.7mm in diameter and max.36.6mm, with a little shallowing out around this larger diameter, possibly the original inside surface of a small vessel. The object stands 19.8mm high and weighs 27.41g. The central hole is countersunk on both sides, being 10.2mm in diameter on the smaller side, widening to 12.3mm on the larger side, but the very centre of the object being 9.1mm in diameter. The greyware is sandy in composition. 1st-4th century.
