A complete lead spindle whorl dating to the Medieval to Post Medieval periods (c. AD 1200-1600). The spindle whorl is broadly circular in plan with one flattened edge, and with a central, circular perforation. The object is bi-conical with some possible raised lines radiating from the central perforation on both faces, though these are heavily worn. Plain lead weights and spindle whorls were in use from the Roman period to the present day, therefore without any contextual information it is difficult to apply an exact date. A complete lead spindle whorl dating to the Early Medieval period (c. AD 500-800). The spindle whorl is broadly circular in plan, with a central, circular perforation. The bottom face of the object is flat, while the upper face is domed. The object has a rough grey surface with a slight white patina. Plain lead weights and spindle whorls were in use from the Roman period to the present day, therefore without any contextual information it is difficult to apply an exact date.
