A lead alloy spindle whorl of Medieval to Post-Medieval date, circa (AD 1100-1600). In plan the spindle whorl is sub-circular and in profile is bi-convex. There is a central sub-circular perforation which is 8mm in diameter. Both faces have been decorated with the same raised cast design consisting of a repeating pattern of radiating ribs with pellets in between. Th edges of the object have been damaged. An incomplete lead or lead alloy convex spindle whorl of uncertain dating but probably Medieval (AD 1100 - AD 1450). The spindle whorl is subcircular in shape and sub D shaped in section. The central perforation is circular in shape and is cast slightly off centre. The whorl shows no signs of decoration, and is quite plain in appearance. There is a triangular piece missing from the top of the object on the front, and there appears to be a casting irregularity in the form of a incised horizontal groove on the right edge of the perforation on the reverse. An incomplete lead or lead alloy flat spindle whorl, of Roman to Post Medieval dating (AD 43 - AD 1650). The spindle whorl is sub circular in shape, and rectangular in cross section. The central hole is sub circular in shape and has been cast slightly off central. The internal diameter of the hole measures 10.7 mm wide. Both the upper and lower faces are flat. No traces of decoration are present on either the upper or lower faces. The whorl has a diameter of 32.3 mm and is 9.7 mm thick. It weighs 68.8 g (2.43 oz).
