A complete cast lead or lead alloy bi-convex decorated spindle whorl, of probable Medieval dating (AD 1100 to AD 1500). The spindle whorl is sub circular in plan, and lentoid (bi convex) in cross section. Both the upper and lower faces have a cast rim along the edge (approx 3.30 mm thick), with a similar rim around the inner edge. The upper face has been decorated with multiple diagonal lines, radiating outwards from the central perforation (hole). The lower face is plain and undecorated.
