A lead spindle whorl of indeterminate date. The object is at the upper end of the distribution curve for the normal weight of spindle whorls at 29g. This may suggest that it was used for spinning relatively fine yarn (Wild, 1988, 25). The approximate bun shape of the whorl is known from the Bronze Age to the Medieval period. The diameter is 24.81mm. Spindle Whorls made from lead are relatively rare and might suggest a date of between the Roman and Medieval periods.
