Lead spindle whorl. Cast biconvex whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.5mm. An arrangement of moulded lines appears on one side; these may define a Latin Cross motif. The other side is entirely plain, though a circumferential flattened rim separates the two halves. Patinated. The form, motif, and distinct treatment of the two sides may relate this to the common biconical whorls. The considerable mass may suggest a primary use plying cord. Suggested date: Late Medieval to Early Post-Medieval, 1450-1550 Diameter: 30.7mm, Thickness: 11.9mm, Weight: 58.55gms

Lead spindle whorl. Cast biconical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 8.3mm. One side bears a moulded design of radial lines defining triangular fields occupied by between one and three pellets; the lines may form a Star of Solomon [or David]. The other side bears lines perhaps radiating in a right hand spiral, more densely grouped and without pellets. A circumferential rim marks the meeting of the two halves. Patinated. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600 Diameter: 25.9mm, Thickness: 10mm, Weight: 29.69gms

Lead spindle whorl. Cast plano-convex whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9-10mm, Walton Rogers form A1. Shrinkage lines around the hole on the flat surface suggest the object was cast in an open mould. The spindle size may hint at an Anglo-Scandinavian date, though this object was reported along with a similar example with a smaller, and possibly earlier style of, spindle hole. Patinated. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 700-1000 Diameter: 28mm, Thickness: 8.9mm, Weight: 22.56gms

Lead spindle whorl. Cast cylindrical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.8mm, Walton Rogers form B. One flat side is plain, the other, probably the uppermost in an open mould given slight shrinkage lines, appears scalloped around its edge. Patinated. The form and spindle hole size could both point to an Anglo-Scandinavian date, but the unilateral decoration might rather relate this to early post-medieval whorls. Suggested date: Unknown, Early Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1000-1600 Diameter: 24.6mm, Thickness: 8.9mm, Weight: 28.74gms

Lead spindle whorl. Cast biconical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.3mm. Moulded decoration comprises radial lines in triangular and overlapping arrangements on both sides, and with occasional pellets discernible between them. Worn, with some loss of clarity where the decoration is concerned, and patinated. The mass might suggest a primary function plying cord. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600 Diameter: 28.4mm, Thickness: 16.0mm, Weight: 52.17gms
