An incomplete Medieval stone plano-convex spindle whorl. There is a small piece of damage to the whorl on the underside. Similar whorls are illustrated in Egan (1998:258-9 fig 202:790). A complete Roman to Medieval ceramic spindle whorl of uncertain date. The whorl is made from a buff to light grey coloured clay. It is sub-circular in form, oval shaped in section with a central circular aperture which has a diameter of 11mm. An Early Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl dating from AD 700-850. The spindle whorl is a Walton Rogers form A1, plano-convex form with a central moulded aperture. A fragment of a Roman colour coated ware vessel that has had a circular hole drilled through the centre of the base, possible for use as a spindle whorl, dating to AD 150-410. The fragment consists of the base of a beaker or jar that has been broken off around the foot ring. The foot ring has been kept intact aside from some minor damage and a hole has been drilled through the centre of the base. The spindle whorl has convex sides and flat upper and lower surfaces. The central circular perforation has a diameter of 8.58mm. Complete Medieval stone plano - convex spindle whorl. There is a small piece of damage to the whorl at the shoulder. It is has concentric turning lines that around the whole circumference in a very regular way. This whorl closely resembles that in Egan 1998: 258-9 fig 202:790. A medieval cast copper alloy spindle whorl or weight. The object is circular in plan and elliptical in cross section. There is a small hole travelling through the centre 3.4mm in diameter. The upper surface of the object has been decorated with incised concentric rings with linear decorations in between. The object is 37.1mm in diameter x 17.2mm thick and weighs 51.6g. The patination and decoration of the object suggests a broadly medieval date of c. 1200 to 1500 AD.

A Post Medieval pottery spindle-whorl, probably Raeren stoneware dating to the first half of the 16th century. The spindle whorl has convex sides and slightly concave upper and lower surfaces. The central circular perforation has a diameter of 8.54mm. The spindle whorl is decorated with a band of three horizontal incised lines around the midpoint. A Medieval - Post Medieval lead alloy weight, a spindle whorl (13th - 16th century). The spindle-whorl is doughnut-shaped with cast decoration of vertical ribs with raised lozenge-shapes around the midline. The upper and lower sections are slightly misaligned and there is a hole in between two of the lozenge-shapes caused during casting. Dimensions: Diameter: 27.93mm; thickness: 15.98mm; weight: 42.89g.

Lead alloy spindle whorl dating to the medieval period. The object is in good condition with a beige patina and a weight of 49.4 grams. The object has a circular hole in the centre; 8mm in diameter, from here to its edge the object has a triangular section. Each surface is decorated in a similar manner on both sides, although this appears to be rather irregular. Both sides are decorated with raised lines and dots.

Lead alloy spindle whorl dating to the medieval period. The object is in good condition with a beige patina and a weight of 48.8 grams. The object has a circular hole in the centre; 8mm in diameter, from here to its edge the object has a triangular section. Each surface is decorated differently; one side is divided into 9 sections by raised lines, each of which has raised dots inside, the other side has a more irregular pattern, with six distinct sections, with alternate sections separated by raised lines, or three raised dots, or raised V shape.
