A cast lead post-medieval to modern spindle whorl probably dating to c.AD 1600-1900. The object is circular and bi-convex with a sub-oval hole for suspension at both ends, around the holes the surface is flat. One surface is decorated with oblique lines radiating from the hole.  There is some damage on the decorated side and light scar marks on the other. Diameter: 25.12 mm; Height: 16.85 mm; Weight: 48.56g

A complete lead spindle whorl dating to the early Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1600). The whorl is biconical in shape with a central moulded aperture measuring 9.74mm in diameter. Both sides of the whorl have the same moulded decoration comprising a series of raised lines radiating out from the central aperture, with a single raised dot in between each line. The object has a light brownish grey patina. A complete cast lead alloy (pewter) spindle whorl of probable late Medieval to early Post Medieval date, c. AD 1400-1700. The whorl is circular in plan and triangular in cross section with a central circular perforation. Both faces of the whorl are decorated with a low relief moulded pattern of triangles and pellets. The object is 30mm in diameter with a central perforation of 9mm . The whorl has an even grey-blue patina, with post burial damage to both faces. There are several similar examples on this database, for example WMID-41A3A5 and LIN-22B3B7.
