Cast copper alloy spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 – 1650 AD). The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan, its diameter measures 26.9mm and is 9.1mm thick. There is a circular cast hole through the whorl and this is set off centre. The diameter of the hole measures 18mm. The whorl weighs 22.17 grams. The spindle whorl is undecorated. It is a mid –dark green colour with an even but abraded patina which covers all surfaces. Where the patina has been removed a light green powdery copper corrosion has developed.
