A complete lead alloy spindle whorl of medieval date (AD 1100-1500). Description: The whorl is biconical in shape with a central circular perforation. The obverse is decorated with eight visible transverse lines radiating from the centre with one pellet in between each, eight pellets total. A Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, dating AD1200-1500. The object is plano-convex with a central circular perforation, probably for suspension. There is a radiating design on the domed side, consisting of a series of lines running around the edge of the perforation and extending to the base of the object. It has a mid-light grey patina. Some similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database, cf. LANCUM-1B7F98. All tend to date from the 13th-15th century. Dimensions: diameter: 22.72 mm; height: 9.99 mm; weight: 20.42g.

A complete lead spindle whorl, dating from the Medieval to Post Medieval periods The spindle whorl is circular with a central circular perforation running through it. Both faces appear to be undecorated. The metal is a mid beige colour and is very worn. It measures is 29.8mm in diameter, 11.8mm thick and weighs 48.45g. Medieval to Post Medieval cast lead spindle whorl. It is bi-conical with a central circular perforation. THe upper and lower surfaces are decorated with slightly curved lines forming a lozenge around the central perforation. There is a pellet in each internal angle of the lozenge and on the outside edge of each side of the lozenge. It is 25.04mm in diameter, 13.45mm thick and weighs 30 grams. The circular perforation has a diameter of 11.31mm.

Medieval cast lead alloy spindle whorl. The whorl is circular in plan, with an irregular circular perforation at the centre. It has a sub-triangular cross section. Both the upper and lower surface have moulded decoration. One face has a zig-zag design, with pellets in the gaps. The other face has five double arches, with two pellets in each towards the central perforation. It has a diameter of 30.59mm, the perforation has a diameter of 9.95mm. It is 9.98mm thick 10.01mm wide and weighs 44.88 grams. The surface is slightly worn and there is some damage.
