It is circular in plan with a central circular perforation. It is flat on both sides with rounded edges. The fabric of the pottery is black on one side and brown/grey on the other. It is not clear if the black is the actual colour of the fabric or is due to wear/dirt. The fabric is smooth and has few inclusions. A probable Medieval to Post-Medieval lead spindle whorl dating from c.1100-1800. This sub-circular spindle whorl has a central hole with a diameter of 6.18mm. It is approximately plano-convex or "bun shaped" in profile. The spindle whorl has a dull creamy brown patina and is very worn. There appears to be an extra lump of lead attached to one half of the flat side and the join is uneven and clearly visible.
