A complete cast lead spindle whorl of Early Medieval date (c.AD410-1200). The spindle whorl is oval in shape and of plano-convex section. Dimensions: 20.8mm x 17.7mm, 9.0mm thick, weight: 14.0g.  The central hole is 7.4mm wide on the flat side and 6.0mm wide at the convex surface. This is a circular, cast lead alloy spindle whorl, rectangular in section, with two flat faces and a central circular perforation. A complete cast lead spindle whorl of the medieval period (c. late 10th to early 12th century). The object is a cast, cylindrical whorl with a central perforation, which is a little off-centre and measures 10.13mm in diameter. One top edge is very slightly rounded compared to the other. The object is roughly circular with a large circular central perforation measuring 10.21mm to 13.81mm On one side of the perforation is a small run off notch with some marking, suggesting this is part of the casting process perhaps to facilitate its use when spinning yarn.
