Perforated lead spindle whorl, circular with central perforation, diameter 13mm. The outer diameter of the whorl is 30.15mm. There is a single notch or groove on the surface from the outer edge toward the central perforation. The whorl weighs 66.82g. The date range is wide because the form of these spindle whorls does not change over time.

A complete stone spindle whorl, conical in shape with a diameter of 33.2mm and a height of 18.34mm. The stone is dense and light grey in colour. There is a circular perforation through the centre of this spindle whorl, measuring 6.9mm at the tapering end and 8.6mm at the flat face. The flat face of this spindle whorl is decorated with two concentric incised circles. This spindle whorl is perhaps most likely to be Anglo-Saxon in date, especially due to the Anglo-Saxon objects it was found in the same area as.

A fragment of a stone probable spindle whorl, circular in shape and measuring c33mm in diameter and 8.9mm thick. The stone is mid grey in colour. The complete face is smooth and flat and the other face is missing due to an old break. The surviving sides do not seem to be tapering so it is likely that this possible spindle whorl was flat rather than conical in shape. There is a central circular perforation, 7.6mm in diameter. This spindle whorl is perhaps most likely to be early medieval or medieval in date due to the site where it was discovered and the fact that other finds of a …

A complete lead decorated spindle whorl, biconical in shape, measuring 29.33 in diameter and 10mm in thickness, at its central/thickest point. This spindle whorl has circular central perforation 9.8mm in diameter. Both faces are decorated with moulded V-shaped arranged alternately with transverse mouldings, inbetween each pair of mouldings there are also protruding circular knops, arranged near to the outer and inner edges of the spindle whorl alternately. The precise dating of lead spindle whorls is difficult when they are found out of context, both Roman and medieval exa…

A complete lead conical spindle whorl, circular in plan, measuring 26.6mm in diameter and 8.7mm in thickness, at its thickest point. There is a central circular perforation through this spindle whorl, 7.6mm in diameter. The sides of the upper face of the spindle whorl are decorated with evenly spaced vertical raised straight mouldings, of which there are seven. The dating of lead spindle whorls is difficult if they do not come from a sealed context, therefore, this example could date from the Roman to the end of the medieval period.

A circular lead weight 23.5mm in diameter and 14mm in maximum thickness, with a central piercing of about 5.5mm. The upper and lower surfaces are neatly domed, and meet at a carination or keel which surrounds the middle of the object. It is probably as Anglo-Saxon spindle-whorl, but might have some other function.

Lead spindle whorl, 28-29 mm in diameter and 12.5 mm tall, with a central circular perforation which tapers from 12 mm in diameter at the base to 10 mm in diameter at the top. The flattish base originally had a wide groove hollowed out around the perforation, but part of this has been scraped away recently, probably by agricultural machinery. The sides are fairly straight and the top is rounded, with two older scrapes across it.

Lead 'spindle whorl', plano-convex in shape. The maximum diameter is 35 mm close to the base, which has a hollowed-out centre with a perforation in the centre. The perforation is circular and tapers from 13 mm in diameter at the base to 9 mm diameter at the top. The upper part of the object is domed and undecorated, and it is 19 mm tall. Although these objects are known as spindle whorls, this one seems far too large and heavy for this; it may be a general-purpose weight. Undatable.

Circular perforated lead weight or spindle whorl. Vaguely conical, the object is extremely irregular, measuring 19 x 17 mm at the base and standing 12 mm tall. The off-centre perforation is 6 mm in diameter for all of its length. There are two large depressions in the side of the object, one of which has penetrated through to the perforation. There are also three or four dots around the top of the perforation which look almost decorative. The depressions are probably not there to adjust the weight, as it totals 18.07g (0.63 oz).
