An incomplete lead or lead alloy bi convex decorated spindle whorl, of probable Medieval dating (AD 1100 to AD 1450).
The spindle whorl is sub circular in shape, and lentoid in section. Decoration detail on the upper and lower faces consists of irregularly placed chevrons pointing outwards, forming a rough star design. The points do not line up at the middle. The central hole is circular in shape and has been cast / set roughly centrally. It has a internal diameter of 9.9 mm.

An incomplete lead alloy spindle whorl, possibly dating to the Medieval period circa AD 1200-1500.
The whorl is biconical in shape with steep sides, flat edges and a central circular perforation. The obverse is decorated with five visible transverse lines radiating from the centre with one pellet in between each, six pellets total. There is an area on the obverse which has been worn away where the decoration is not visible. The reverse is decorates with eleven transverse lines radiating from the centre.

A complete lead or lead alloy flat spindle whorl, of Roman to Post Medieval dating (AD 43 - AD 1650).
The spindle whorl is sub-circular in shape, and rectangular in cross section. Both upper and lower surfaces are flat. There is a hole of internal diameter 8.1 mm which is cast off-centre. The surface appears undecorated but this may be due to abrasion in the soil.
The whorl has a diameter of 22.1 mm and is 12.1 mm thick. It weighs 32.9 g (1.16 oz).

The spindle whorl is circular in plan and rectangular in cross section, perforation running through it. The upper the upper surface is slightly domed, whereas the lower is flat. The spindle whorl has no decoration.

A possible lead spindle whorl dating from the medieval period (AD1300-1500). The spindle whorl is plano-convex with a flat base and domed top and a central perforation. The central perforation has an internal diameter of 9.1mm. The domed face is decorated with a series of raised zig-zag lines, creating triangles, and dots. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The whorl has a pale grey patina with some damage on the edge.

Roman to Medieval (1st to 15th centuries) spindlw whorl. A cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl which is circular in plan and in profile is bi-convex. There is a central circular perforation which is 11.04mm in diameter. The surface of the spindle whorl is decorated with chevrons radiating from the centre on both sides. The whorl has a raised outer edge radiating around its cirumference. The surface is oxidised and is a light grey colour.
It measures 28.33mm in diameter, 8.24mm thick, and weighs 20.15g.

A cast lead alloy Early Medieval spindle whorl. It is D-shaped in cross-section (plano-convex) with a tapered central moulded aperture of 9.5mm - 10.2mm diameter. The form is that of Walton Rogers AI and are dated by Walton Rogers to AD 500 - 1000, however it could also be dated to medieval. The object has a pale beige/white patina.
