Lead spindle whorl. It is conical with a flat base, an irregular circle 23-25mm in diameter. The sides are straight, sloping up to a flat top perhaps around 13mm in diameter. The central hole is neat and 11mm in diameter on the base, but is less neat at the top where it is 7-8mm in diameter. It is 9mm thick and weighs 27.2g. Lead spindle whorls appear to date from c. 900 to c. 1400 AD.

Lead weight, probably a spindle whorl. It is crudely made and irregular, perhaps crushed, with an oval base with a slight thickening around it; total measurements are 22 x 18mm. The sides are straight, tapering to a flat top that is more drop-shaped when viewed from above; it measures 15 x 17mm. The central perforation is also oval, 6 x 8mm at the top and 4 x 8mm at the base. The height is 17mm and it weighs 37.8g. Most lead spindle whorls probably date to c. 900-1400 AD.

Small plano-convex lead spindle whorl. It has a flat base and sides of uneven height, with a ridge running round the base in side view taking the maximum diameter up to 17.5mm. The sides slope in a slight curve to a slanting top; maximum thickness 7mm. The central circular hole flares from 6mm in diameter at the top to 8mm in diameter at the base. It weighs 10.6g. Lead spindle whorls are difficult to date. They appear to have been in use from the 10th to the at least the 14th century.

Medieval lead biconvex spindle whorl angular decoration in relief (a possible pseudo inscription) on both faces. Central perforation (diameter 11mm). Thickness 16mm. Diameter 32.5mm. Weighing 63.06g. Cf. an example from Cantley, Norfolk (NMS-3E8202), also examples from Meols (Griffiths et al. 2007 no. 2188) and from an early 16th-century context at the Augustinian Friary, Leicester, complete with its wooden spindle (Mellor and Pierce 1981, 139-40, fig.51 no.71). For the significance of such 'mock' inscriptions see Gilchrist (2012), pp.163-5. Perhaps late 15th-early 16th century.

Very abraded and incomplete Late Saxon to post-medieval lead plano-convex spindle whorl. A considerable amount has been lost, as is evidenced by the far from central position of the hole. The break, however, is quite smooth. Weight 11.27g. Estimated diameter 22mm. Thickness 7mm. Hole diameter 8 - 9.5mm. 11th - 16th century. Finders' number AD 800
