Roman lathe-turned bone spindle whorl, plano-convex with three concentric grooves on the upper, convex face and one groove along with a rib surrounding the central hole on the base. There is very slight ancient surface damage in two places and a tiny modern chip in one. Diameter 34mm. thickness 16.6mm, hole diameter 9 - 10mm, weight 15.98g. Mid 1st - 4th century.

Incomplete spindle whorl made from a basal sherd of Roman oxidised pottery in a quite fine fabric. Paert of the edge is missing. Diameter 37mm. Thickness 11mm. Hole diameter 11 - 12mm. Weight 15.78g. 3rd - 4th century, or perhaps post- Roman.

A circular cast lead-alloy artefact, probably a spindle whorl. The whorl has a flat biconical section, with each cone truncated by the central perforation for attachment. The whorl is 29.75mm in diameter at its centre, 12.05mm thick, and the circular perforation for attaching to the spindle is 9.5mm in diameter, tapering slightly to 8.2mm. The upper face of the whorl is decorated with irregular tapering double ribs which radiate out. A complete lead decorated spindle whorl which could be Roman or later in date as the form of spindle whorls changes little through time. It is a flattened biconical in shape and measures 30.5mm in diameter and 11.4mm in thickness, it has a central circular hole which is 11.7mm in diameter. The decoration is now very worn but appears to have been moulded transverse lines with small flattened circular bosses between them.

A complete lead spindle whorl, flattened biconical in shape with a central circular perforation. It measures 33mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness, the central hole is c10mm in diameter. Both faces of this spindle whorl are decorated one face with moulded transverse lines, radiating out from the central perforation in between these lines there are three circular knops. The other face has worn zig-zag moulded lines again with rounded knops in between the zig-zags.
