A complete cast lead spindle whorl in good condition dating to the medieval period.  The whorl is biconical in shape with a ridge around the circumference. Each face is decorated with a line and dot relief motif. Overall, it measures 30.1mm in diameter, 9.1mm in thickness and has a perforation diameter of 10.2mm.  Lead spindle whorls were uncommon before the medieval period and the relatively large diameter of the central perforation places this in the mid to later medieval period. A cast lead spindle whorl, dating from the early post-Medieval period, AD 1500-1600. The biconical whorl has a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.33mm. A prominent rim, with a curved outer profile, marks the meeting of the two halves and the aperture is also rimmed. The whorl has moulded relief decoration comprises crossing diagonal lines forming four equidistantly spaced triangular points of a star, each filled with a pellet, on either side. On one side there is an unclear flower in relief with some possible writing. On the other side there is also some possible writing although this is unclear and may not read anything.

Medieval lead spindle whorl. It is circular in plan with a central circular perforation (diameter of which is 9.85mm) and is biconical. Each face is decorated with cast, relief decoration. On one face this takes the form of a six pointed star, at each angle there is a straight line, then in each section created by these lines is a circular raised dot. The other face is split into five sections by lines radiating from the centre, in each section are three circular raised dots.
