A complete lead spnindle whorl of probable early medieval - medieval date spindle whorl. It is circular in shape, with a circular, central perforation, The top is slightly domed, the reverse is flat. It is rectangular in cross section. The surface is worn and rough. It is a cream white colour.

A lead alloy spindle whorl, 28.4mm in diameter 10.5mm thick and with a weight of 29.14g. The object is circular with a plano convex cross section and a central hole of 7mm diameter. The upper surface is decorated with a mesh(?) pattern of incised lines. Cf. Walton Rogers form A1 which is suggested to be c. AD 700-1100 AD. The relatively small aperture size is also consistent with an Anglo-Saxon date.

A lead spindle whorl. A truncated biconical spindle whorl with a large, central circular aperture running vertically. The edges around the aperture are flattened. One face is smooth and undecorated. The other has moulded decoration of lines and pellets. The decoration is worn and indistinct but includes a saltire cross framed by two lines and an asterisk of six points. Date: Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval - c, 1450 - 1600 Diameter: 28.08 mm Thickness: 15.87 mm Weight: 44.97 g Weights of similar form are recorded in database records SWYOR-1376F6 and NLM-C8BDC2.
