The object is sub-conical in shape with a flat base and large central circular perforation (approximately 8.1mm in diameter). The side is decorated with raised lines running top to bottom. Inbetween the lines is the shape 'X'. It is possible these lines are meant to be letters or runic in nature, but it is illegible. The object is 24.9mm in diameter, 10.6 thick and weighs 26.86 grams. Decorated examples are thought to date to the Early Medieval to Post Medieval periods with some significant exam…

A perforated lead-alloy weight of unknown date. The object is sub-conical in shape, with a slightly domed upper surface and a flat bottom. It measures 21.48 in diameter, 7.17 mm thick and weighs 13.66 grams. The vertical hole in the centre measures 5.83 mm in diameter. The weight has no decoration on any surface. The metal is light grey in colour. Weights of simple design were cast easily throughout the Roman to post-Medieval periods; therefore, they are difficult to date precisely. Cf. Cast lead alloy decorated spindle whorl. The whorl is circular with a flat base and domed top, slightly flattened in the centre, and a circular hole running through the centre. The upper side is decorated with raised lines radiating out from the central hole, these are thought to help the spindle work as well as be decorative. It is 32.7 mm in diameter and 11.6 mm thick; weights 52.5 grams. Locally cast lead spindle whorls were in use from the Roman to Post Medieval period and are hard to date precisely.
