A complete lead Spindle Whorl of Medieval date (AD 1100-1500). The object is biconical with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.77mm. Both sides bear a moulded decoration. On one side this takes the form of a cross Pommée with lettering reading: W Crown V (pellet within) Crown V (pellet within and flanking). The opposing side is decorated with cross Pommée H•N•?•quatrefoil/A (chevron barred).

The spindle whorl is bi-convex in shape and sub-circular in plan. It has a lentoid cross section. It fits into the Walton Rogers classification form C. The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan, with a central, circular perforation extending vertically through the object (internal diameter 8.9 mm). The sides of the spindle whorl are slightly convex. There are thrre lozenge-shaped mouldings attached to the corners of the object, the fourth is missing due to damage.

An incomplete lead or lead alloy bi convex decorated spindle whorl, of probable Medieval dating (AD 1100 to AD 1450).

This biconical spindle whorl has a central perforation (diameter: 11.51mm). Both faces are decorated with an irregular pattern of raised pellets and diagonal lines. In some places this detail has become worn and the outer flan is dented, probably due to post-depositional factors.
