A complete lead alloy spindle whorl of medieval date (AD 1100-1500). Description: The whorl is biconical in shape with a central circular perforation. The obverse is decorated with eight visible transverse lines radiating from the centre with one pellet in between each, eight pellets total. A spindle whorl that may date from Roman to medieval date. Description: A complete but dented lead spindle whorl. The whorl is biconical in shape with a central circular perforation. One face of the whorl is decorated with a series of V shape engravings, with a dot engraved within each. A similar pattern appears to be engraved on the other face, but the pattern is less clear. A Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, dating AD1200-1500. The object is plano-convex with a central circular perforation, probably for suspension. There is a radiating design on the domed side, consisting of a series of lines running around the edge of the perforation and extending to the base of the object. It has a mid-light grey patina. Some similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database, cf. LANCUM-1B7F98. All tend to date from the 13th-15th century. Dimensions: diameter: 22.72 mm; height: 9.99 mm; weight: 20.42g.
