An early medieval, cast, copper alloy strap-distributor attachment loop, dating to c.AD 850-950. It appears to be closely related to Thomas class B, type 4 strap ends because it has the same decorative arrangement of three animal heads, two opposing and one back to back at what would be the closed end of a strap end.This strap fitting is in the form of a narrow strip of copper alloy, flat on the underside and moulded on the upper face. Description Treasure reference 2018 T563: an Early Medieval silver Carolingian silver mount, partly gilded and inlaid with niello, and decorated with Carolingian-style plant ornament. The mount is oval in plan and domed at the front with high, curved sides. The domed surface is decorated in relief, with the higher-relief sections of the design inlaid with niello and the lower-relief sections gilded. Treasure case no. 2016 T838: an Early Medieval socketed anthropomorphic object depicting the Norse god Odin, who wears an (incomplete) bird-headed helmet or headdress. This object belongs to a group of similar figurines - all with bird-headed helmets or headdresses - which have been found in England, Sweden, Gotland, Denmark, Russia, and Belgium. The helmeted figure probably represents Odin as a one-eyed 'weapon-dancer'. Copper alloy buckle plate. The attachment end is a plain split end with a single central rivet hole. The plate tapers from the attachment end towards a very stylised animal head made up of three transverse mouldings. The first is the tallest, with raised semi-circular ears with blind-drilled centres; the next moulding has drilled eyes and the third represents the animal's nose or muzzle.
