A cast copper alloy small-long brooch, dating to the 6th – 7th Century. Small-long brooches tend not to have the side knobs. The brooch has a rectangular head plate, with the trefoil type extensions. These extensions are decorated with incised triangles formed from individual incised lines and raised pellets. The upper part of the bow survives, with a convex arch- with a raised spine down the centre. The brooch is then broken below this, the break is worn. A miniature Medieval brooch in the shape of a trefoil with three globular projections positioned at each external recess. The frame is nicely shaped with a chamfered edge. The brooch retains its pin, which is designed to lie diagonally across its breadth, resting beneath the opposite globular projection. A complete copper alloy annular brooch of medieval date. The brooch frame is sub ovate in plan as it has been broken and bent out of shape. It has a trefoil design of tall circular collets (or turrets) projecting from the upper surface at quarterly intervals. Eleven of the collets are filled with an off-white substance which is probably calcium carbonate paste and the third is now empty. TREASURE CASE : 2017 T1012. An incomplete silver-gilt sexfoil brooch of medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1400. The brooch frame is formed from six rounded lobes, five of which have a trefoil shaped knop extending outward from the apex. The sixth lobe has a recess for the pin though the pin no longer survives. The point at which four of the lobes meet to the inner side of the frame also have trefoil knops. Two of the lobes do not have these features though they may have been lost to worn breaks. A near complete Medieval copper alloy single loop sub-triangular buckle c1250-1400. The outer edge of the look is expanded and terminates in a trefoil shaped moulding. There is a narrowed and offset strap bar. The top surface of the buckle is decorated with and has a notch for the pin to rest in. The back of the brooch is plain . Roman: An incomplete cast copper alloy scabbard runner, of Roman dating (1st to 4th Centuries AD). The scabbard runner is sub rectangular in plan, and irregular in section. It consists of a tapering chamfered shank, with a saltire incised on the trefoil terminal. Two short incomplete shanks are present on the reverse. It measures 60.94mm in length, 7.84mm wide and 16.71 mm thick. It weighs 8.1 grams. A similar example has been published as #515 in Allason-Jones, 2008, chapter 11. The body of the brooch is rectangular with central high-relief rectangle. This high-relief rectangle has a rectangular cell on its upper surface. Protruding from one narrow end of the body is a sub-oval with a circular hole. Protruding from the opposite edge of the body is a trefoil decorated with a ring and dot design. On the reverse of the trefoil is the remains of a catchplate. Opposite is a lug holding a sprung pin, which is intact. The reverse of the body of the brooch has a hollowed circle.
