An incomplete cast copper-alloy early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) small long brooch dating to c.AD 450-550. Penn and Brugmann (2007) Sm2 or Sm3. Only the headplate and part of the bow has survived. The headplate comprises a trefoil head with three projecting sub-rectangular lobes with semi-circular cut aways at each angle. The bow springs from the headplate; it has a D cross-section and is decorated on the convex side with oblique indentations where the bow meets the headplate, creating a trapezoidal block at the upper portion of the bow. Small cast trefoil openwork brooch of clover-leaf form with a small stalk below and with a low central collet retaining a semi-translucent glass stone of a green tint with a blue spot. Traces of white metal plating appear on the display face. A small soldered gutter set centrally on the back marks the site of a pin or other fixing. A complete silver post-medieval hooked tag. This composite object is formed of a trefoil of hollow-domed bosses, each surrounded by a twisted filigree wire annulet. The domed surfaces of these bosses have sustained some damage in the past. The bosses are separated by a trefoil of large granules, around a central granule or pellet. The back-plate has an engrailed edge. A silver gilt annular brooch fragment dating from the Medieval period, probably the 14th century. The fragment consists of a rectangular cross-section frame embellished with a beaded knop and a collet. The collet is linked to the knop by a forking branch which has a trefoil terminal resting against the collet. There is a scar on the other side of the collet where a matching feature would have been attached. There is white paste in the hollow top of the collet, but the gem or glass setting is missing. A very similar and more complete example is GLO-F97DA4 (2012 T386).

Early medieval, copper alloy, small-long brooch. It is broken in two pieces just below the bow. The head plate is trefoil shaped with small rectangular notches out of either side of the top of the bow. The bow is triangular in section and short. The foot has four rounded ridges running across it just above the spatulate extension terminal.There is an intact catch plate on the reverse which sits just above the flared terminal. there is also an intact pin lug on the reverse of the headplate.
