A fragment of a cast copper-alloy brooch (probably ansate) of early medieval date (c.500-1000). Description: The brooch remains as one terminal which is now trefoil in shape due to wear and breakage to the edges. Approximately one third of the curved bow remains. The terminal is decorated on the front with a single ring-and-dot motif at the centre. The reverse of the terminal has the remains of a lug for the pin which is missing. An incomplete Roman copper alloy brooch, dating from the late 1st-2nd century AD. Much of the brooch survives with only part of the pin missing. At the head, there are three coils of the spring on either side of the central lug. There is a ridge running down the centre of the bow with a groove in the middle. There are traces of walked graver work over the groove, common for the Springhead type. An incomplete Early Medieval copper alloy small long brooch, dating AD 450-550. The object has a trefoil head plate and curved bow, which straightens out to form a rectangular foot. There are punched annulets running around the edge of the headplate and a ridge running down the centre of the bow which continues onto the foot. An incomplete Early Medieval copper alloy small-long brooch, dating AD 450-550. The object is of the trefoil headed type, formed of a square head-plate with three semi-circular projections, only one of which survives. The arm of the brooch has a D-shaped section before straightening out. The arm is broken just below the catchplate and would have flared out at the end. A silver coin of Edward the Confessor, adapted to make a coin brooch or badge by way of two silver rivets. The reverse of the coin has been gilded, making this side the visible face. The rivets are circular in section, each with a domed head (also gilded) on the front and flattened on the reverse to keep them in position. Incomplete Roman (1st century) cast copper alloy lozenge plate brooch. The brooch is lozenge shaped with concave sides, each arm terminating in a trefoil. There is a central perforation that would have been used to secure a (now missing) decorative plate. The reverse has two lugs to secure the missing sprung pin, and the remains of a folded catchplate. The reverse has a mid-green patina, while the upper surface is grey-green, with an uneven surface from the missing decoration. It is 42.11mm long, 2.39mm thick, increasing to 8.18mm to include the pin lugs. It weighs 7.55 grams.
